Rust Belt Beckons Solar Energy Manufacturers

According to this LA Times article, Stirling Energy Systems has contracted with factories in Detroit to make parts for its large solar dishes. The reason?

They’re looking to tap its manufacturing might and legions of skilled workers, hit hard by the near-collapse of the United States auto industry and eager for work.

Green tech isn’t a complete balm for the region, but it puts people back to work, and finds a use for excess manufacturing infrastructure.
